Staying Motivated And Stress Free During School

There is no doubt that school is extremely stressful, especially during your last couple of years. Last year I was in Year 10 and I felt like all I did was wake up, go to school, get home and spend my entire night doing homework. My whole year revolved around this routine and I believe that it was ultimately caused by stress. Of course stress doesn't give you the homework, but it does effect the way you work. So today I want to talk to you guys about some things that I have done this year to keep myself motivated for school so that I can not only do as best as I can, but I can also have the ability to do other things such as be with friends or watch movies as well. I have five things that I believe have kept me motivated and stress free. All of these really are general and not some kind of magical formula but so many of us don't actually do them even when we know we should.

1. Sleep

Sometimes we all need to stay up late because we were unfortunately bombarded with a huge amount of homework in one day. I myself have to do this, especially if I have work the same night as well. As soon as I finish all my homework, I give my self a little bit of free time, even if it's for only half an hour. I would rather a small amount of time to myself than none at all. After this, I would go straight to bed. Not long ago I read somewhere that falling asleep at 10:00pm every night will give you a perfect night's sleep. I don't always achieve this, but when I do, I always have that little bit more energy in the morning. Try your best to make sleep a really big priority and it will definitely pay off the next day.

2. Eat healthy

It's common sense that eating healthy can benefit you in every single aspect of your life; mentally, emotionally and physically. It is another source of energy and also helps your brain function during the day. Your attention span and behaviour are also positively effected from healthy foods. Eating healthy also means eating breakfast. Your body hasn't eaten for hours and it needs the vitamins and nutrients to get you going again for the new day. Skipping breakfast just adds to those hours, and it is a proven fact that eating breakfast allows you to be more focused during school, so why not try it?

3. Give yourself reasons to doing it

Especially in your last two years of school, you have the opportunity to pick nearly every subject you want to do. This definitely helps because it allows you to give yourself more reasons to study because you would hopefully enjoy the subjects you pick. Even when this isn't the case, you just need to tell yourself that you're going to have to do it eventually. So why not get it out of the way now so you're not thinking about it? Also think of how well you're going to benefit putting a ton of effort in now, and getting an amazing result later.

4. Pick subjects you like

When you are able to do the subjects of your choice, why pick something else that you don't even like? Whether it's because you're forcing yourself to do something you actually don't like, or you want a better Year 12 score, just think of how much better it would be if you picked subjects you enjoyed, therefore you won't mind studying as much for it, and you will get a brilliant mark; one that's much better than doing a subject you absolutely hate just because it gets ranked up.

5. One day at a time

Last but not least, a positive attitude is one of the best things you can have while at school. Even though you would rather do a million other things, you're at school and if you avoid doing anything then, you'll have to do it that night. Put in the effort, get home, complete your homework and then when you have nothing more to do, run around your house in happiness. Not thinking too far ahead, but also preparing yourself and staying organised is a great way to avoid being stressed.

Overall, I hope this helped you guys at least a little bit. These are things that I know work for me because I do them nearly everyday. I shall speak to you guys soon!

Over and out, Ramona x
